Xavier’s Vanden Heuvel ties for second at WIAA Division 2 girls golf regional, qualifies for sectional tournament

DE PERE – Xavier senior Caroline Vanden Heuvel will be moving on to sectionals after she finished in a tie for second at a WIAA Division 2 Girls Golf Regional on Thursday at Mid-Vallee Golf Course.
Vanden Heuvel shot a 95 to tie with Freedom’s Kori Reader for second place at the regional tournament, four shots behind regional champion Kay Lee McClintock of Freedom.
The top three teams and top three individuals not on those teams qualify for Tuesday’s Division 2 sectional tournament at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Seymour. The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams at the sectional will move on to the 2024 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison on Oct. 14-15.
Denmark (406), Freedom (408) and Winneconne (413) earned the three teams spots at the sectional. Xavier finished sixth among the seven teams with a total score of 435.
Josie Egan shot a 106, and Meredith Leege and Sarah Rettler each had a 117 to round out Xavier’s scoring.
