Xavier’s Vanden Heuvel finishes ninth at WIAA Division 2 girls golf sectional

SEYMOUR – Xavier senior Caroline Vanden Heuvel was eliminated from the postseason after placing ninth at a WIAA Division 2 girls golf sectional on Tuesday at Crystal Springs Golf Course.

Vanden Heuvel tied for ninth with a 97, five shots off the pace to claim the final individual state tournament berth.

The top two teams at the sectional and top three individuals not on those teams qualify for the 2024 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament, which will be held Oct. 14-15 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.

Freedom won the sectional team title with a 400 and Seymour grabbed the other state tournament berth, defeating Marinette 22-24 in a one-hole playoff after the two teams tied for second with 403s.

Freshman Aubrey Molaison of Lake Country Lutheran won the individual sectional championship with an 86 to earn one of the three individual state berths. Reagan Hermanson of Marinette and Taylor Miller of Oconto Falls tied for second with 92s to grab the other two.
