Xavier’s Bertram finishes tied for eighth in Division 2; West’s Evers ends up 62nd in D-1 at WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament

KOHLER – Xavier’s Jon Bertram earned a top-10 finish after shooting a 3-over par 75 on Tuesday as the 2024 WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament concluded at the Meadows at Blackwolf Run.
Bertram, who was tied for 11th after a rain-shortened nine-hole score of 40 on Monday, surged into a tie for eighth, finishing four shots behind Division 2 co-champions Cameron Lee and Caleb Kern of Edgerton.
Appleton West senior Collin Evers also wrapped up play at the state tournament as he shot an 85 to finish in a four-way tie for 62nd among the 104 competitors.
Evers had an 82 on Monday before the 13-over par round on Tuesday.
Cody Schmidt of Germantown shot a 74-71-145 to win in the Division 1 individual state title, two shots ahead of Lincoln Hottmann of DeForest. Mason Haupt of West De Pere and David Spahr of Brookfield East tied for third with two-day totals of 148.
Team champions were Waunakee (Division 1) with a two-day score of 619, Lakeland (Division 2) with a 27-hole score of 463, and Mineral Point (Division 3) with a 27-hole score of 483.
