Xavier wins team title at Bay Conference Boys Golf Championship

GREENLEAF – Jon Bertram earned medalist honors with a 73 to help lead Xavier to the team title at the Bay Conference Boys Golf Championship on Tuesday at Wander Springs Golf Course.

Bertram outlasted West De Pere’s Mason Haupt by one shot and Seymour’s Vince Sigl by two as the Hawks finished with a team score of 317, which was 10 strokes better than West De Pere.

Bertram’s win landed him in the third spot in the final overall standings and first-team all-Bay Conference honors, along with Haupt, Sigl, Darrien Thomas of West De Pere and Jonah Schlueter of New London.

Grant Neumann shot an 80 to tie for fourth, Jack Schmidtke was sixth with an 81, Jonah Gentry tied for seventh with an 83 and Kyle Watry added a 90 for Xavier.

Xavier will host a WIAA Division 2 regional at High Cliff Golf Course in Sherwood on Tuesday, May 21.
