Xavier softball slugs past West De Pere

DE PERE – The Xavier softball team scored six runs in the opening two innings and were able to hold off West De Pere 8-7 to win its first Bay Conference game of the season Tuesday at the Westwood Elementary School Field.
Addison Hervey had a double and a home run, and drove in four runs while also earning the pitching win for the Hawks. She finished with five strikeouts and nine walks, while giving up six hits and five earned runs.
Kaila Stammer and Angela McGreevey each added a pair of hits for Xavier (1-2, 1-1 Bay Conference).
Megan Burns had two hits and three RBI for West De Pere (4-2, 1-1 Bay Conference).
Xavier is back in action Friday with a nonconference game at Manitowoc starting at 4:30 p.m.
