Xavier slams Kettle Moraine Lutheran in WIAA Division 2 girls volleyball sectional final, heads to state again

WRIGHTSTOWN – The Xavier girls volleyball team made quick work of Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 sweep in a WIAA Division 2 sectional final at Wrightstown High School.
The Hawks won 25-15, 25-16, 25-13, to advance to their second-straight WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament.
Xavier (43-3) will open up defense of last year’s Division 2 state title with a D-2 semifinal against Rice Lake (28-8) at 2 p.m. Friday at the Resch Center in Green Bay. McFarland (34-9) will take on Pewaukee (32-10) in the other semifinal, which will take place simultaneously with the Hawks’ match. The winners will play in the Division 2 state championship match at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Halle Vande Hey had 10 kills, seven digs and two kills, Madison Daley added seven kills, eight digs and four aces, and Annika Kowalski had seven kills and 12 digs for the Hawks.
Setter Mariah Potter added 29 assists, 11 digs, four kills and two aces, Belle Shea had a team-best 20 digs, and Mattea Kiepert chipped in five kills, two blocks and two aces in the victory for Xavier.
Xavier will be making its sixth WIAA state tournament appearance to go along with berths in 2001 and 2005, and Division 2 runner-up finishes in 2006 and 2009.
