Xavier girls volleyball rolls past Seymour in WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal

APPLETON – The defending Division 2 state champion Xavier girls volleyball team took its first step toward getting back to Green Bay and the state tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Seymour in a WIAA regional semifinal Thursday night at Xavier High School.

The No. 1 seeded Hawks defeated their Bay Conference rival 25-9, 25-12, 25-10, to advance to a Division 2 regional final Saturday at home against No. 5 seed Green Bay Notre Dame. Notre Dame swept a regional semifinal match at Freedom on Thursday.

Xavier swept Notre Dame in a two-set match at Notre Dame’s home tournament on Sept. 2.

Annika Kowalski had 10 kills and four digs, Madison Daley had nine kills, three blocks and four service aces, Belle Shea had nine service aces and seven digs, and Mariah Potter had 34 assists and four digs for the Hawks.

Mattea Kiepert added eight kills and Olivia Neumann chipped in seven kills in the win for Xavier.

Saturday’s match at Xavier High School starts at 7 p.m.
