Xavier girls volleyball finishes 2-3 at Chicago Asics Challenge

CHICAGO – The Xavier girls volleyball team finished 2-3 at the Asics Challenge at Mother McAuley High School on Friday and Saturday.
The Hawks lost their first three matches, falling to Barrington (Ill.) 25-16, 25-11; Xavier (Iowa) 25-23, 25-23; and WalHert Catholic (Ill.) 25-16, 19-25, 25-22; before coming back to post victories over Nazareth (Ill.) 25-18, 25-20, and St. Charles East (Ill.) 25-23, 25-23.
Setter Sydney Neilitz finished with 102 assists and eight service aces across the Hawks’ five matches.
Madison Daley had 37 kills and 27 digs, Grace Hackl had a team-best 49 digs, and Ali Tylinski had 26 kills and five aces for Xavier.
Rose Kendall chipped in 15 kills and six blocks, Braelee Kiepert added 14 kills and 11 digs, and Elle Downs had eight kills and nine blocks as well for Xavier.
Xavier’s next match is Thursday at Green Bay West.
