Xavier girls team, two boys runners earn state berths at WIAA Division 2 cross country sectional at New London

NEW LONDON – The Xavier girls team and two boys runners are off to state after qualifying at the WIAA Division 2 cross country sectional at Shamrock Heights Golf Course on Saturday.
Xavier had its top five runners finish in the top 19 as it won the girls team title with 51 points. Green Bay Notre Dame was second with 62.
The top two teams and top five individuals not on those teams qualify for the 2023 WIAA State Cross Country Championships, which will be held next Saturday, Oct. 28, at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
Xavier’s Lilie Fouts won the girls 5-kilometer race in 18:33.7, 11 seconds in front of Little Chute’s Ashley Wilson.
Annalise Minorik placed fourth (18:53), Lauren Erickson was 10th (19:35), Joy Krull took 17th (19:53) and Hannah Linsmeyer finished 19th (19:58) as well for the Hawks.
Xavier’s Noah Donnermeyer placed third in 16:21.9 and Luke Krull took seventh in 16:47.3 to earn two of the five individual state berths in the boys race.
Winneconne won the boys team title with 42 points and Notre Dame was second with 63. Amherst’s Max Voss was the individual sectional champion, winning the 5K in 15:50.8.
Fox Valley Lutheran did not have a runner qualify for the state meet.
Mason Dobberstein was 21st in 17:43 for the FVL boys and Kristin Donart took 24th in 20:24 for the girls team’s top finisher.
