Xavier girls golf rolls to team title at WIAA Division 2 regional

DE PERE – The Xavier girls golf team rolled to the team title and earned a sectional berth at the WIAA Division 2 regional at Mid-Vallee Golf Course on Wednesday.
Xavier had four of the top six finishers and shot a score of 335, which was 55 strokes ahead of second-place Winneconne. Little Chute was third with a 430.
The top three teams and top three individuals not on those teams qualify for the Division 2 sectional at Thornberry Creek Golf Course in Green Bay on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Xavier’s Aliisa Helminen shot a 75 to win the individual regional title, with teammates May Shimek and Elizabeth Schubbe finishing in a tie for second with 84s. Caroline VandenHeuval added a 92 and Molly Martine had a 111 to round out the Hawks’ scoring.
Gabija Anderson of Kettle Moraine Lutheran (98), Kate Forton of Milwaukee St. Thomas More (99) and Aleena LaRosh of Kettle Moraine Lutheran (109) earned the three individual sectional berths.
