Xavier girls basketball splits pair of nonconference games

The Xavier girls basketball team split a pair of nonconference games over the weekend, falling to Germantown on Friday at the Hartford Holiday Shootout, before handing Winneconne its first loss of the season at home on Saturday.

Xavier lost to Germantown in a high-scoring affair 75-72 on Friday before responding with a 58-51 win on Saturday afternoon over the Wolves.

Xavier (3-5) was 13-for-14 from the free throw line in the second half and 19-for-22 overall to hold off Winneconne (9-1).

Brynn Krull had 12 points, Joy Krull scored 11, and Ali Tylinski and Annika Heimann each had 10 for Xavier in the win over Winneconne. Brynn Krull, Tylinski and Heimann combined to go 14 of 14 at the line.

Brynn Krull had a career-high 28 points and Hailey Hafner scored 20 for the Hawks in the loss to Germantown (6-5).

Xavier will play at home against Green Bay East in a Bay Conference game on Friday.
