Xavier girls basketball opens season with resounding road win at Omro

OMRO – The Xavier girls basketball team hit seven 3-pointers and used a pair of 41-point halves to roll past Omro 82-26 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Omro High School to open its 2023-24 season.

Senior Carsyn Stempa scored a game-high 22 points, Elle Krull added 13 points, and Molly Martine nailed three 3-pointers and chipped in 11 points in the victory for the Hawks.

Xavier raced out to a 41-16 lead by halftime and outscored the Foxes by even more in the second half to cruise to the road victory.

Madi Brooks led Omro, which was also playing its season-opener, with 12 points.

Xavier will travel to Laconia, the defending WIAA Division 4 state champions, for another nonconference game on Thursday. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
