Xavier girls basketball hands New London its first Bay Conference loss

NEW LONDON – The Xavier girls basketball team bounced back from its first Bay Conference loss by handing New London their first defeat in conference play, winning 61-39 on Friday night at New London High School.

The Hawks jumped out to a 35-21 lead by halftime and stayed in command the rest of the way, improving to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the Bay Conference following last Friday’s loss to West De Pere.

Carsyn Stempa had 19  points and Elle Krull drilled three 3-pointers to finish with 13 points for Xavier.

Kenna Mix scored 12 points for New London (10-2, 3-1 Bay Conference), which had its four-game winning streak snapped.

Xavier’s next game is Friday, Dec. 29, when it takes on La Crosse Aquinas at Watertown at 12:30 p.m. The Hawks return home Friday, Jan. 5, for a Bay Conference game against Green Bay East.
