Xavier girls basketball fights past Menasha

MENASHA – The Xavier girls basketball team took over sole possession of second place in the Bay Conference with a hard-fought 49-43 win over Menasha on Friday night at Menasha High School.
Halle VandeHey scored 11 points and Elle Krull added 10 in a balanced scoring attack for the Hawks, who are now 11-5 overall and 5-1 in the Bay Conference.
Hannah Neubert scored 19 points for Menasha (10-5, 4-2 Bay).
Xavier remains 1½ games behind first-place West De Pere (7-0) in the conference standings. The two teams play at Xavier on Friday.
The Hawks will first take on Hartland Arrowhead, the No. 2-ranked team in this week’s Wissports.net Division 1 state coaches poll, on Saturday at 4 p.m.
