Xavier girls basketball dominates second half to earn home win over Seymour

APPLETON – Carsyn Stempa scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Xavier girls basketball team to a 58-37 win over Seymour in a Bay Conference matchup Tuesday night at Xavier High School.
Elle Krull added 14 points for the Hawks, who improve to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the Bay, remaining 1½ games behind West De Pere (12-3, 6-0 Bay) in the conference standings.
Xavier led by just two, 24-22, at halftime before busting the game open, holding Seymour to only 15 points as it pulled away.
Keira VandeHei and Alayna VandeHei each scored eight points for Seymour (6-9, 1-6 Bay).
Xavier plays at Menasha on Friday at 7 p.m. The two teams are tied for second place in the Bay Conference standings.
