Xavier girls basketball dominates overtime, takes down New London

NEW LONDON – The Xavier girls basketball team overcame a big halftime deficit, forced overtime and dominated the extra four-minute period as it defeated New London 49-35 in a Bay Conference matchup Friday night at New London High School.
The Hawks trailed 23-10 at halftime before turning the tables and outscored New London 22-9 in the second half to push the game to overtime. In OT, Xavier outscored the Bulldogs 17-3 to win going away and stay in the Bay Conference title chase.
Xavier improves to 14-6 overall and 8-1 in the Bay, one-half game behind 9-1 West De Pere.
Elle Krull scored 18 points and Carsyn Stempa added 13 for the Hawks.
Jensen Mix led New London (15-5, 5-4 Bay Conference) with 15 points.
Xavier hosts Menasha on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
