Xavier football uses powerful running game to blast Wisconsin Dells in WIAA Division 4 playoff opener

APPLETON – Three Xavier rushers surpassed 100 yards rushing and the Hawks scored five first touchdowns in the first half to roll past Wisconsin Dells 42-7 in a WIAA Division 4 Level 1 playoff game Friday night at Rocky Bleier Field at Xavier High School.

The Hawks won their ninth-straight game to improve to 9-1 this season and move on to a Level 2 contest against Winneconne next Friday, Oct. 27. The game will be at Xavier High School and begins at 7 p.m.

Matthew Potter ran for 107 yards and Isaiah Des Jardins need just four carries to pile up 106 yards, with both scoring a pair of touchdowns to lead the Hawks.

Quarterback Reid Hietpas added another 104 yards on the ground as Xavier racked up 395 yards in total.

Xavier’s defense was just as impressive, limiting Wisconsin Dells (6-4) to 176 total yards and just 56 on the ground in 29 carries.
