Xavier football slams Freedom

FREEDOM – Xavier scored four first-quarter touchdowns and racked up 399 rushing yards in a dominating 48-3 victory over Freedom in a Bay Conference-North Eastern Conference crossover football game Friday night at Freedom High School.

Carter McGlone (4 yards), Isaiah Des Jardins (60 yards) and Evan McCormick (64 yards) had rushing touchdowns, and Reid Hietpas threw to Brendan Bruen for a 26-yard touchdown as the Hawks (2-1 overall, 1-0 Bay Conference) rolled out to a 28-3 lead by the end of the first quarter.

A.J. Seidler kicked a pair of field goals in the second quarter to push the Hawks’ lead to 34-3 at halftime, and Des Jardins and Nathan Welter added rushing touchdowns in the second half to pad the final score.

Matthew Potter finished with 113 yards, Des Jardins 104 and McCormick 94 on the ground as Xavier turned to its running game to pile up nearly 400 yards on 44 carries.

In all, Xavier outgained Freedom (2-1, 0-1 North Eastern Conference) 489-257.

Xavier hosts Wrightstown for another Bay-NEC crossover game on Friday, Sept. 8, beginning at 7 p.m.
