Xavier football powers past Waupaca to stay undefeated in Bay Conference

WAUPACA – The Xavier football team posted its fifth-straight win as it used a dominating first half to cruise past Waupaca 35-14 in a Bay Conference game Friday night at Waupaca High School.

Isaiah Des Jardins had a 74-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter and the Hawks were off and running as they scored five touchdowns in the first half to roll out to a 35-0 lead.

Quarterback Reid Hietpas and running back Matthew Potter each added a pair of scores for Xavier, which is now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Bay.

Potter finished with 108 yards rushing and Des Jardins added 80 as the Hawks piled up 234 yards on the ground.

Xavier hosts Shawano at 7 p.m. Thursday. Waupaca will be at Winneconne on Friday at 7 p.m.
