APPLETON – The Xavier football team left little to the imagination Friday night in its season opener, using a pounding rushing attack to throttle Valders 56-12 in a nonconference matchup at the newly-renovated Rocky Bleier Field.
All but one offense play from the Hawks was on the ground as they racked up 370 yards on 37 rushing carries and produced a pair of 100-yard rushers as Matthew Potter ran for 147 yards and Osaze Fourmiller tacked on 103.
Potter scored four times, all in the first half, as Xavier rolled out to a 42-6 lead by halftime.
The Hawks tacked on two more scores in the fourth quarter to win going away.
