Xavier finishes fifth at first Bay Conference girls golf meet

WINNECONNE – The Xavier girls golf team opened its 2024 season with a fifth-place finish at the Bay Conference Mini Meet No. 1 on Thursday at Lake Breeze Golf Course.

Seymour won the team title with a 195, finishing just one shot ahead of Shawano. Xavier placed fifth among the eight teams with a 231.

Reece Oswoski of West De Pere was meet medalist with a 42, one stroke better than Shawano’s Sophia Eggert.

Sarah Rettler tied for 11th with a 51 to lead Xavier. Josie Egan had a 56, Meredith Legge shot a 59 and Gianna Heid had a 65 as well for the Hawks.

On Friday, Xavier competed at the MaryBeth Nienhaus Invitational at Winnagamie Golf Course, which was hosted by Appleton West.

Rettler and Egan shot a nine-hole best ball score of 51 to place 14th. Complete scores were not available.

Xavier’s next meet with be the Heart of the Valley Invitational on Monday at High Cliff Golf Course in Sherwood. The second Bay Conference meet is Tuesday at Vernon Hills Golf Course in Peshtigo.
