Xavier boys soccer blasts Sturgeon Bay to win WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal

APPLETON – The Xavier boys soccer team dominated Sturgeon Bay 3-1 to win a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal match Thursday afternoon at Xavier High School.

No. 2 seed Xavier (21-3), winners of 12 of its last 13 games, moves on to a sectional final at No. 1 seed Neenah St. Mary Catholic (19-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m. SMC held off Kiel 2-1 on Thursday.

Xavier is attempting to make its first WIAA State Boys Soccer Tournament appearance since 2012 when that team won the program’s fourth state title to along with others won in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
