Xavier boys basketball pounds Campbellsport for third-straight win

APPLETON – The Xavier boys basketball team held Campbellsport to 13 points in the second half to open up a close game and roll to a 73-47 nonconference win on Saturday afternoon at Xavier High School.
After taking a 42-34 lead at halftime, the Hawks blew the game open with a 31-13 advantage over the final 18 minutes to win their third game in a row and improve to 8-3 this season.
Xavier made nine 3-pointers and had three players score in double figures, led by Caden Schuler and Luke Oelhafen, who both scored 16 points.
Emmett Gonnering topped Campbellsport (3-6) with 17 points.
Xavier will play another nonconference game at Wautoma on Tuesday before a big Bay Conference matchup Friday at first-place West De Pere. The Phantoms are 4-0 in conference play and Xavier is 3-0. Both games start at 7 p.m.
