Xavier boys basketball escapes with one-point win at Kettle Moraine Lutheran

JACKSON – The Xavier boys basketball team overcame an eight-point deficit in the final four minutes and squeezed out a 65-64 nonconference win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Thursday night at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

The Hawks trailed 38-30 at halftime and were still behind by eight with four minutes remaining before storming back and pulling out the one-point victory, improving to 2-1 this season. Kettle Moraine Lutheran had a 3-pointer rim out as time expired to preserve the win for the Hawks.

Luke Oelhafen hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points, while also pulling down nine rebounds, for Xavier.

Logan Ramczyk added 14 points and Joe Gallucci 11 for the Hawks.

Jordan Wagner topped Kettle Moraine Lutheran (1-3) with 12 points.

Xavier opens its Bay Conference season at Green Bay West on Tuesday.
