Xavier boys basketball downs Brillion to win WIAA Division 3 regional final

APPLETON – The Xavier boys basketball team took care of business on its home court at the Torchy Clark Gymnasium at Xavier High School on Saturday night, downing Brillion 76-63 in a WIAA Division 3 regional final to earn a spot in sectionals.
The Hawks led by six at halftime at 30-24 and outscored Brillion (21-5) by seven in second half to finish off the win.
No. 2 seed Xavier (24-2) will No. 1 seed Kiel (26-0) in a D-2 sectional semifinal Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Brillion High School.
Seniors Tyler Brightman (19 points, eight rebounds) and Reid Hietpas (16 points, three 3-pointers) led the way for the Hawks.
Sam Pfefferle chipped in 12 points and five assists, and Hayden Quimby had 10 points in the win for Xavier, which shot 55 percent (24-for-44) in the win.
Bryce Gantz topped Brillion with 16 points.
