Xavier boys basketball clinches another Bay Conference title with win over New London

APPLETON – The Xavier boys basketball team surged ahead in the second half and pulled away for a 70-62 win over New London on Friday night at Xavier High School, clinching the outright Bay Conference championship.

The Bay Conference title is Xavier’s fourth straight and eighth in the last nine seasons.

The game was tied at 29-29 at halftime before the Hawks (18-1, 12-0 Bay) were able to pull away and earn their ninth win in a row.

Hayden Quimby had 18 points, and Sam Pfefferle and Tyler Brightman both scored 14 for Xavier.

Paul Vauillaume led New London (12-7, 8-4 Bay) with 18 points.

Xavier is right back in action Saturday with a nonconference home game against Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
