APPLETON – After a week off due to rainouts, the Xavier baseball team finally got back on the field and pulled out a 3-2 win over West De Pere on Wednesday night at Don Hawkins Field at the Post 38 American Legion.

The game was moved from West De Pere due to wet field conditions, with the Phantoms serving as the home team.

Kyler Bleck scored on a fielder’s choice and Reed Flick knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly to give Xavier a 2-1 lead in the top of the third.

After the Phantoms (10-9, 8-6 Bay Conference) tied the game in the fourth, Xavier (9-8, 6-7 Bay Conference) scratched across what proved to be the game-winner in the sixth on an RBI single by Tyler Brightman.

Parker Bleck picked up the win, striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings, and Parker Bleck earned the save by getting the final four outs.

Xavier plays at Menasha on Friday. The game at Koslo Park starts at 4:30 p.m.
