Xavier baseball drops conference road game at West De Pere

DE PERE – West De Pere held down the Xavier offense, pulling out a 5-1 win in a Bay Conference baseball game Monday at Westwood Elementary School.

The Hawks managed five hits and West De Pere committed five errors, but they could only muster one run against pitchers Logan Wierzba and Brady Leurquin.

Tyler Brightman suffered the loss, finishing with seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort for Xavier (7-8, 4-7 Bay Conference).

Reid Hietpas has two of Xavier’s five hits.

Sammy Berg had a triple and knocked in two runs for West De Pere (9-6, 7-3 Bay Conference).

The two teams will play again Tuesday at Don Hawkins Field at the Appleton Post 38 American Legion at 6:30 p.m.
