Wrightstown hands Fox Valley Lutheran football first conference loss

WRIGHTSTOWN – Wrightstown rushed for 295 yards and used three first-half touchdowns to hand Fox Valley Lutheran its first North Eastern Conference loss, beating the Foxes 20-13 in an NEC football game Thursday night at Wrightstown High School.
Trevor Vande Hey, Payton Vande Hey and Aiden Humphreys had rushing touchdowns as the Tigers (6-1, 4-1 NEC) took a 20-7 lead at halftime.
FVL quarterback Liam Heiges, who ran for a 23-yard touchdown in the second quarter, threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Nick Martin in the third quarter to bring the Foxes to within a touchdown.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter as Wrightstown was able to hold on for the win.
Heiges ran for 81 yards and threw for 159 yards for the Foxes (5-2, 4-1 NEC). Martin finished with five catches for 105 yards for FVL.
The North Eastern Conference championship is still up for grabs as Fox Valley Lutheran hosts first-place Luxemburg-Casco (6-1, 5-0 NEC) next Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. Wrightstown plays Luxemburg-Casco at home on Oct. 13 to wrap up the regular season.
