Wiese dominant as Xavier baseball shuts out Shawano

APPLETON – Gavin Wiese struck out 11 in a complete-game two-hitter to lead the Xavier baseball team to a 5-0 win over Shawano in a Bay Conference game Monday at Don Hawkins Field.

Wiese struck out the first batters he faced and was dominant throughout, giving up single hits in the fourth and sixth innings without a walk as Xavier (2-3, 1-3 Bay Conference) won its first conference tilt of the season.

Matthew Potter had the key hit for Xavier, smacking a bases-loaded double to clear the bases in a four-run fourth inning.

Xavier will play another Bay Conference game at Menasha on Tuesday.
