Wick tosses five-hit shutout as Appleton North baseball blanks Appleton West

APPLETON – Ethan Wick fired a complete-game five-hit shutout as the Appleton North baseball team blanked Appleton West 4-0 on Thursday in a Fox Valley Association game at Appleton North High School.
Wick struck out eight, walked three, and scattered five singles to earn the win as the Lightning improves to 14-5 overall and 12-4 in the FVA.
William Hoerner had an RBI double and scored on a single by Brandon Schopf in the third inning, and Schopfe had an RBI double and came on an error for North’s four runs.
Loren Georger went the distance on the mound for the Terrors (6-14, 6-10 FVA), striking out eight, walking one and allowing just three hits, all leading to the four North runs.
Dexter Gerard had two of West’s five hits.
Appleton West will travel to Ashwaubenon for a nonconference game Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Appleton North is back in action Tuesday at Neenah.
