Werfal pours in 36 points as Appleton North girls basketball slips past Oshkosh North

APPLETON – Appleton North freshman Avery Werfal poured in a career-high 36 points to lead the Lightning to a 65-59 win over Oshkosh North in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game Tuesday at Appleton North High School.
Appleton North got off to a strong start, pulling out to a 10-point lead by halftime and were able to hold off a late Oshkosh North run to earn the victory and move into sole possession of fourth place in the FVA at 8-5.
Tay Maass added 13 points for Appleton North (10-9 overall).
Lauren Geer scored 23 points for Oshkosh North (8-11, 3-10 FVA).
Appleton North travels to Kimberly for another FVA game Friday at 7:30 p.m.
