Waukesha holds off Appleton United boys hockey

APPLETON – The Appleton United boys hockey team lost its sixth-straight game to begin the 2023-24 season, falling 2-1 on Friday night in a nonconference game against the Waukesha Wings at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
Cole Muchow scored a goal in the first period for the Wings (6-2) and they upped the lead to 2-0 early in the third.
Appleton’s Landon Larson scored off assists from Hans Ridlehoover and Kenny Kapheim with 10:36 to go, but couldn’t even things up.
Brandon Tobak made a whopping 68 saves in goal for the United, which were outshot 70-15 in the loss.
Appleton United (0-6) hosts Hartland Arrowhead (4-2) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
