Valley Swim Team wins three events, places fifth at Ashwaubenon Jaguar Invitational

ASHWAUBENON – The Valley Swim Team, a co-op of boys swimmers from Appleton West, Kimberly, Kaukauna and Hortonville high schools, won three events and finished fifth at the 15-team Ashwaubenon Jaguar Invitational on Saturday at the Ashwaubenon Community Pool.

Tyler VanGompel broke his own program record in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the event in 53.08 seconds for the Valley Swim Team, which finished with 223 points. Bay Port won the team title with 533 points.

The team of VanGompel, Ethan Pasholk, Hayden Hollenbeck and Ethan Bruce also won a pair of relays for VST, taking first in the 200 medley relay in 1:40.98 and the 400 freestyle relay in 3:21.42.

Tyler Jossie also set a personal-best with a score of 372.70 to take second in the diving competition for Valley Swim Team.

Appleton North/East tied for ninth in the team standings with 86 points.

Owen Schmitz placed third in diving with a score of 348.65, Cash Braun was seventh in the 50 freestyle in 23.83 seconds and eighth in the 100 butterfly in 58.51 seconds, and Cal Woreck took ninth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.67 for North/East.

Valley Swim Team will take part in the Appleton North/East Invitational at Appleton North High School on Friday.
