Valley Swim Team, Appleton North/East combine for three top-10 finishes at WIAA State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships

WAUKESHA – The Valley Swim Team and Appleton North/East combined for three top-10 finishes at the 2025 WIAA Division 1 State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at Waukesha South High School.
Appleton North/East’s lone state qualifier, Owen Schmitz, placed ninth in the diving competition with a final total score of 309.80 points.
In the swimming competition, Tyler VanGompel of the Valley Swim Team, a co-op of swimmers from Appleton West, Kimberly, Kaukauna and Hortonville high schools, finished eighth in the 100-yard butterfly (50.33 seconds) and ninth in the 200 individual medley (1:53.61).
Tyler Jossie did not reach the finals in diving for VST, taking 17th in the semifinals with a score of 214.10.
Also competing for the Valley Swim Team were the 200 medley relay team of Ethan Pasholk, Hayden Hollenbeck, VanGompel and Max Baade (13th, 1:37.09), Hollenbeck in the 100 breaststroke (13th, 58.74), the 400 freestyle relay team of VanGompel, Ethan Bruce, Pasholk and Hollenbeck (16th, 3:14.69), and Pasholk in the 100 backstroke (19th, 53.52) and the 200 individual medley (23rd, 1:59.67).
