Strong start pushes Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball past Green Bay Hornets

GREEN BAY – The Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball team started hot, scoring four times in the opening inning, and went on to a 6-2 victory over the Green Bay Post 11 Hornets on Wednesday at Joannes Park.
The first five batters of the game reached base for Post 38 as it jumped out to a commanding lead.
Brandon Schopf, Alex Ramus and Alex Brokaw each had RBI singles, and Ryan Tesch had a sacrifice fly to put Appleton on top 4-0.
Post 38 tacked on two more runs in the fourth as Ramus had another run-scoring single and Brokaw had a sac fly to score Reed Flick, making it 6-0.
Green Bay scored its only two runs of the game in the fifth against Appleton pitcher Logan Hudson, who went six innings and struck out seven. Ramus finished off the win with a scoreless seventh.
Appleton Post 38 (8-9) will be at home Wednesday to take on De Pere at 7:30 p.m. at Don Hawkins Field.
