Stoffel earns 175-pound title for Appleton North at Kimberly Papermaker Wrestling Invitational

KIMBERLY – The Appleton North and Appleton West wrestling teams competed at the Kimberly Papermaker Invitational on Saturday at Kimberly High School.

Team scores were not provided.

Jake Stoffel earned the title at 175 pounds for Appleton North, rolling to a 5-0 record. He won his first four matches by pin and ended his perfect day with a 16-1 technical fall over Patrick Moore of Freedom.

Jackson Esser finished third at 120 pounds, beating Caleb Krause of Princeton by pin in the third-place match, and Cooper Krysiak ended up fifth at 113, winning three matches by pin, as well for Appleton North.

Addison Walt took second place in the girls 107-pound division, losing a tight championship match to Joelle Reay of Neenah 4-1.

Appleton West also competed in the girls tournament, with Carina Aponte taking fifth at 100 pounds and Jacquelen Malm placing sixth at 107.

Appleton North hosts Neenah and Appleton West will be at home against Kaukauna in Fox Valley Association matches on Thursday.
