STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point Post 6 swept a doubleheader from Appleton Post 38, which included a walk-off win in Game 2, on Saturday at Bukolt Park.

Stevens Point won 7-2 and 10-9 as Appleton drops to 5-7 this season.

Josh Opiola tossed a complete-game in the opening game for Stevens Point with two strikeouts and no walks.

Michael Gwiazdon took the loss for Appleton, allowing four runs over four innings. Isaac Schultz had both hits for Post 38, scoring one of the runs.

In Game 2, Appleton fought back from an 8-1 deficit to tie the game at 9-9 with two runs in the both the sixth and seventh innings.

Alex Brokaw drove in two with a single in the sixth, and Alex Ramus had an RBI single and Brandon Schopf knocked in another on a sacrifice fly for Appleton, knotting the score at 9-9.

Stevens Point responded immediately, however. A hit batter and walk led off the inning and the winning run came in on a bunt by Opiola to complete the sweep for the Sixers (11-3).

Appleton will be back in action Monday at Neenah Post 33 for a game at 5:30 p.m.
