Shawano earns eighth-inning walk-off win over Xavier baseball

SHAWANO – Parker Beyer singled home the game-winning run with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning as Shawano outlasted Xavier 7-6 in a Bay Conference baseball game Friday at Shawano High School.

Xavier led 5-0 after 2½ innings but couldn’t hold on as Shawano rallied, and tied the game at 6-6 with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Matthew Potter had three hits, including two doubles, and scored three times, and Reid Hietpas had a double and two RBI for Xavier, which falls to 7-7 overall and 4-6 in the Bay Conference.

Thomas Keszo, Beyer and Pete Bruette all had three hits each for Shawano (7-4, 5-4 Bay).

Xavier will play at West De Pere on Monday at 4:30 p.m. in another Bay Conference matchup.
