Shawano doubles up Xavier boys soccer

APPLETON – The Xavier boys soccer team suffered a big blow to its Bay Conference title chances, suffering a 2-1 loss to Shawano on Tuesday night at Rocky Bleier Field.

Wyatt Rouamba scored off a corner kick from Ben Kaufman for Xavier, but goals from Shawano’s Werner Beyer and Grayson Swedberg put them ahead and Shawano was able to finish off the victory.

Both teams are now 5-2-1 in Bay Conference play, trailing West De Pere (7-0-1) in the standings, with both facing matches with the Phantoms to finish the conference season.

Xavier will play at home Thursday against Green Bay East at 6:30 p.m. before finishing its conference schedule at West De Pere on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Shawano hosts West De Pere on Thursday and ends its Bay Conference season at Green Bay East next Tuesday.
