APPLETON – Seymour put up 11 runs in the top of the ninth inning to blow past Xavier 18-7 in a Bay Conference baseball game Monday night at Don Hawkins Field.
The game was tied 6-6 after seven innings, sending it to extras. Seymour scored once in the top of the eight before Xavier retaliated as Luke Krull delivered an RBI single to knot the game back up at 7-7.
Seymour then exploded as the first 11 batters in the inning reached base, nine of which came around to score before Xavier recorded its first out. The Thunder (1-3, 1-1 Bay Conference) added two more for good measure.
Xavier finished with nine hits, two from Krull and Reid Hietpas. Matthew Potter drove in a pair of runs for the Hawks (2-4, 0-2 Bay Conference).
The two teams will matchup again Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Seymour High School.
