APPLETON – Seymour scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away and defeat Xavier 33-7 in a Bay Conference football game Friday night at Xavier High School.
The Thunder (4-0, 2-0 Bay Conference) took a 12-0 lead with a pair of touchdown runs from Xavier Salzman in the first quarter.
Xavier buckled down and quarterback Matthew Potter ran in from 17 yards out to cut Seymour’s lead to 12-7 going into halftime.
That would be it for the Hawks (2-2, 0-2 Bay Conference) as their offense was unable to find pay dirt again.
Seymour tacked on three insurance scores in the fourth, including two more from Salzman, who rushed for a game-high 135 yards in the victory.
Potter finished with 113 yards rushing for Xavier.
Xavier will travel to New London for another Bay Conference game Friday, Sept. 20.
