Second-ranked Kaukauna sends Appleton East boys basketball to first loss

KAUKAUNA – Second-ranked Kaukauna proved too much for Appleton East as the Ghosts cruised to a 91-46 win in a Fox Valley Association boys basketball game Friday night at Kaukauna High School.
The Ghosts, ranked second in this week’s Wissports.net Division 1 state coaches poll, rolled out to a 44-23 lead by halftime and the Patriots could not recover.
Josh Christiansen led Appleton East (3-1, 1-1 FVA) with 14 points.
Andrew Jensen had 27 points and 12 rebounds, and Keegan Van Kauwenberg had 20 points, five rebounds and seven assists for the Ghosts (2-0 overall and FVA).
Both teams will play nonconference games at home on Saturday. Kaukauna hosts Kenosha Indian Trail and Appleton East will take on Bay Port at home. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
