Red-hot Hortonville downs Appleton North girls basketball

HORTONVILLE – Hortonville senior Rainey Welson, a University of Maryland recruit, matched his career-high 43 points as the Polar Bears defeated Appleton North 84-49 in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game Friday night at Hortonville High School.
Leah Heraly added 15 points for Hortonville, which is now 12-2 overall and 10-1 in the Fox Valley Association after posting its 10th-straight win.
Tay Maass had 15 points and Avery Werfal scored 12 to lead Appleton North (5-10, 2-9 FVA), which has dropped six-straight games.
The Lightning will be back in action Tuesday at Appleton West.
