Pius XI Catholic hands Xavier boys basketball its first loss of season

MEQUON – Milwaukee Pius XI Catholic outscored Xavier by eight points in each half and handed the Hawks their first loss of the season 64-48 in a game at the Rick Majerus Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout on Friday at Concordia University.
Xavier was held to a season-low 48 points as it falls to 9-1 this season.
Tyler Brightman had 17 points and seven rebounds, Hayden Quimby added 15 points, and Reid Hietpas hauled down a team-best nine rebounds for Xavier.
Jaquan Johnson had 24 points for Pius (6-4).
Xavier plays at New London in a Bay Conference showdown on next Friday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m. The two teams are tied for first place in the conference with 4-0 records.
