Oshkosh North downs Appleton North in battle of FVA boys basketball leaders

OSHKOSH – Oshkosh North took a major step toward a Fox Valley Association boys basketball championship with an 83-69 win over Appleton North in a battle of state-ranked teams on Tuesday night at Oshkosh North High School.
Oshkosh North, ranked eighth in this week’s Wissports.net Division 1 state coaches poll, improves to 14-4 overall and 11-1 in the FVA with the win, opening up a two-game lead over fifth-ranked Appleton North (14-3, 9-3 FVA) in the conference standings with six games to play. The Spartans also garnered a season-split with Appleton North.
Zay Mitchell had 36 points and Stevie Clark finished with 21 for the Spartans.
Oshkosh North led 38-36 at halftime before pulling away in the second half with a 45-point performance.
Abraham Tomori scored 24 points and Will Sweeney had 15 for Appleton North.
Appleton North hosts Kimberly for another FVA contest Friday at 7:30 p.m.
