Neenah wins FVA girls tennis title again, Appleton North places third at conference tournament

Neenah won its 12th-straight Fox Valley Association girls tennis championship as it won six of the seven flights and placed second in the other at the FVA Tournament on Thursday.
No. 1 and No. 2 singles were played at Kimberly, No. 3 and No. 4 singles at Appleton East, and all doubles matches were held at Kaukauna.
Appleton North had a pair of runner-up finishes and placed third, Appleton West took sixth, and Appleton East eighth at the tournament.
Emilie Woodrow took second at No. 2 singles for Appleton North, falling in the final to Celia Gentile of Neenah 6-0, 6-0, and the Lightning’s No. 1 doubles team of Sabrina Janda and Olivia Gaskill also finished second, losing the championship match to Neenah’s team 6-1, 6-1.
Maya Pack at No. 3 singles and Lauren Boyle at No. 4 singles each finished third for Appleton North.
Appleton East’s top finisher was No. 1 singles player Aubrie Erickson, who placed third after taking the third-place match over Loria Dao of Oshkosh North 6-4, 6-4.
Appleton West had four fifth-place finishers: Kami Beyersdorf at No. 2 singles, Ella Reetz at No. 3 singles, its No. 2 doubles team of Kayda Aeby and Madison Buchinger, and its No. 3 doubles team of Elizabeth Weinfurter and Emma Schuchart.
The WIAA postseason begins Monday and Tuesday with subsectionals across the state. In Division 1, Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Kaukauna and Kimberly will compete at the Fox Cities Racquet Club in Appleton on Monday, with the sectional tournament to be played Thursday at Western Racquet Club in Green Bay. Fond du Lac, Neenah, Oshkosh North and Oshkosh West will be at Manitowoc on Tuesday, with the sectional meet at the Fox Cities Racquet Club on Thursday.
