Neenah rallies to defeat Appleton East baseball

APPLETON – Neenah scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to give the Rockets a 6-3 win over Appleton East in Fox Valley Association baseball action Thursday at East High School.
Appleton East (7-12, 6-10 FVA) scored three times in the first inning on RBI by Daniel Dieck, Rylan Winkler and T.J. Parker, before the Rockets started to chip away.
Neenah scored once in the second inning and tied it with a two-run third.
The 3-3 tie held until the seventh when Andrew Carlson had a two-run single and scored on a single by Isaac Verbruggen to give the Rockets (14-8, 11-5 FVA) the lead.
Verbruggen then took the mound and worked around a one-out single to earn the save for Neenah reliever Tyler Huss, who pitched two scoreless innings prior.
Alex Thompson had two of Appleton East’s four hits.
Appleton East will play Wausau East at 1 p.m. and Green Bay Notre Dame at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Notre Dame Triangular at Neville Field.
