Neenah pulls past Appleton North softball

NEENAH – Neenah rallied from an early two-run deficit to defeat Appleton North 6-2 in a Fox Valley Association softball matchup Tuesday at Neenah High School.

Tatum Beggs had a two-run single in the top of the first for Appleton North, but that would be all the Lightning could muster against Neenah pitcher Kyleigh Mathe, who struck out 11 without a walk and allowed just three hits after the first inning.

Neenah (12-8, 10-7 FVA) tied the game with two runs in the second and pulled away, plating four more over the next four innings.

Lila Griffith and Raegen Schwarz each had two hits for Appleton North (6-16, 4-13 FVA).

Both teams will finish up their FVA and regular-season schedules Thursday as Appleton North hosts Appleton East and Neenah travels to Fond du Lac.
