APPLETON – Neenah tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh then poured on six runs in the eighth to down Appleton West 16-11 in a wild Fox Valley Association baseball game Monday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.
West came back from a 9-8 deficit and scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 11-9 lead. Loren Georger had an RBI triple, and he and Quinn Mueller scored on bases-loaded walks to put the Terrors in front.
Neenah, however, tied the game with a run-scoring single by Trevor Stichman in the seventh and forced extra innings, where it erupted for a six-run top of the eighth, keyed by a two-run double from Stichman.
Stichman, Neenah’s leadoff hitter, finished 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI and scored five times in the win for the Rockets (2-3, 2-1 FVA).
West (1-4, 1-3 FVA) scored once in the bottom of the eighth but couldn’t get any closer.
Blayton Will had four hits and five RBI, and Carter Aldrich, Mueller and Dimitry Edmunds all had two hits in the game for the Terrors.
